Policies

This course will follow the Composition Program Policies described on the One Hundred Ten blog. Allow me to add the following comments.

Attendance

I want you to succeed in this course. To do so, you need to be in class, ready to work. If you need to miss a class for any of the reasons listed as an excused absence in the UD Faculty Handbook, please make sure I am promptly sent the proper documentation. If you have to miss class for a minor illness, please email me ahead of time.

Otherwise, absences will count against your participation grade. I will take attendance every class, and I will let you know if I am concerned that absences may affect your final course grade.

Disabilities

Same as above. I want you to succeed. If you feel you may need an accommodation to complete the work of this course, please have the DSS Office contact me promptly.

Deadlines and Punctuality

Let’s get started on time. That way, if we complete our work early, we can leave early. Similarly, if you get your written work to me on time, I will return it to you quickly with my comments. If you are late with your work, your grade may be penalized, and I can only promise to read your work when I am able to turn to it and to offer it only a brief response.

Electronic Devices

Turn them off in class. I love my gadgets, too, but I also want to take full advantage of the time we have together.

Food and Drink

Beverages are fine. Food is not.

Editing

Be professional. Proofread and edit all of your writing carefully before turning it in.
